While the RX-V1065 is capable of upconverting standard definition video signals to HD 1080p via HDMI, if your video source is emitting full 1080p already, the last thing you want to do is send it through the upconversion processing. This is akin to taking the long route — the more processing a signal is subjected to, the greater risk there is of loss of signal quality. The RX-V1065 ensures the best HD picture possible by letting HD 1080p video pass straight from your Blu-ray player to your HDTV via HDMI.
