For several years running, Mitsubishi's Unisen series HDTVs have been redefining the way you think about TV audio. Now, with the emergence of a Diamond-series Unisen panel, they're taking your audio experience even further. Many "other" HDTVs usually feature a built-in two-way, two-channel speaker system so that you can at least hear the audio that accompanies your video picture. Mitsubishi's LT-46249, on the other hand, gives you the opportunity to experience your HDTV's audio thanks to an 18-speaker, 5.1-channel, built-in audio speaker. Mounted along the bottom edge of the LT-46249's bezel, the integrated soundbar delivers an encompassing five-channel surround sound effect by employing 18 individual drivers — the sixteen 2W drivers found on other Unisen panels, plus two additional 10W drivers. The advanced design and directivity patterns of this speaker arrangement let you experience home theater surround sound without additional obtrusive speakers and cables. Dolby Digital and Dolby Pro Logic processing fuel this impressive, innovative HDTV audio system, whose low-frequency reproduction you can easily enhance by using the built-in variable subwoofer preout to hook up your powered subwoofer. The LT-46249 even includes a calibration microphone that lets you customize the soundbar's performance for your listening and viewing area. The complete HDTV experience — 1080p LCD video and 5.1-channel audio.

It's not magic, it's Vudu

Maybe you've heard: there's a vast world of high definition movie titles out there. And it isn't in your local video rental store. It's on Vudu.com. You love watching movies in HD, but you hate browsing the New Releases wall at the video store, and you really don't find online mail-order rental services to be all that "convenient". When it comes to advanced video reproduction, the full HD 1080p panel resolution and widescreen aspect ratio are only the beginning. A DeepField imager continuously analyzes 135 sectors of the video picture in real time, constantly adjusting panel brightness and contrast for optimum settings in all areas of the picture. SharpEdge technology offers advanced edge-definition signal processing, enhancing horizontal and vertical edges for stunning picture precision with minimum distortion. Further, the PerfecTint feature gives you the ability to adjust the tint of six individual colors independent of one another or separately for every video input. The result is a custom video experience, no matter what you're watching. Finally, improved Plush1080p 5G 12-bit processing optimizes all HD source material for display on a 1080p-resolution screen.

Fact: you just can't have too much color

If you thought Technicolor was out of this world, you might want to sit down for this. The LT-46249 is capable of displaying . . . billions of colors. What's more, special features designed into the LT-46249 give you the control to customize these colors for optimal, lifelike video reproduction. Okay, now, what's this business about billions of colors? Well, the tag team of x.v.Color and Deep Color allows the LT-46249's screen to display such a large number of colors by expanding the supported color gamut (the work of x.v.Color) and by broadening the color spectrum used to represent the graphical image data being sent to your screen (thank you, Deep Color). Further, Deep Color allows for smooth transitions between color shades, thus eliminating color banding and other visual artifacts for a sharper, more lifelike image. Additionally, a 6-color processor enhances the LT-46249's color capacity by producing brighter colors, a wider range of colors, and whiter whites. Finally, giving you the control to customize the image you see, the LT-46249 offers PerfectColor. A full color matrix, this technology lets you adjust the intensity of six separate colors independently of each other and separately for each of the TV's inputs. You get the color you want for all your video sources.

Less "noise" means better video

The LT-46249's exclusive Video Noise Reduction uses advanced algorithms to better identify video noise from fine detail and correct the signal rather than distort it. Video noise is caused by distortions in the video signal that make the picture look grainy or snowy. As signal resolutions improve with the introduction of DVD, digital cable/ satellite and HDTV, the loss of sharpness produced by most noise reduction circuits becomes more noticeable. Mitsubishi's advanced Video Noise Reduction corrects the image in four dimensions: horizontally, vertically, within each frame, and across multiple frames to provide an image that is crystal clear and extraordinarily detailed.

An HDTV for all occasions

Because you don't plan on using your new high definition LT-46249 to enjoy just one type of video, and because you might find yourself watching it at various times of day, Mitsubishi has designed this LCD with six video modes, letting you customize the TV's performance. Choose between Gaming Mode and Natural Mode when switching between graphical video game images and live-action movies and television programs. If you're sitting down to a matinee, use Brilliant and Bright modes to optimize panel performance in situations with high ambient light. ISFccc calibration modes let you choose optimal settings for daytime or nighttime viewing.

Now that's a digital photo

Thanks to a front USB port, you can connect a USB thumb drive or USB Card Reader to the LT-46249 and use the 46" screen as a giant photo album. Heck, you can even use the USB input to listen to digital music files over the LT-46249's 18-speaker sound bar!
